Our home Bad-Rippoldsau-Schapbach is the highest mineral and moor spa of the Black Forest and offers a healing climate. Start directly from the Ochsenwirtshof on well-marked hiking trails, such as the Querweg Gengenbach-Alpirsbach, the little Hansjakobweg, or many others. You can fish for brown trout at our own trout pond and chase balls on our tennis court.

How about a rest with a magnificent view of the Glaswaldsee, which is called the "blue eye" in the central northern Black Forest?
For a look deep underground, a guided tour of the Grube Wenzel visitor mine is worthwhile. A little further south, you can experience a centuries-old tradition in the Black Forest: glassblowing at the Dorotheenhütte in Wolfach.

The Black Forest region is known for its varied landscape. In the south, it stretches to 1493-meter-high mountain peaks and borders Alsace in the west. Whether nature experiences, culture, and tradition, city visits or amusement parks – there are countless destinations that are easily accessible from the Ochsenwirtshof. Day trips to somewhat more remote destinations are also recommended. The Black Forest and the nearby Alsace also invite motorcycle enthusiasts to beautiful tours.
A winter vacation in the Black Forest
Winter hiking, skiing, and sledding
White snow-covered landscapes and glittering hills – in the winter sports paradise of Bad Peterstal-Oberwolfach and Wolfach-St. Roman you can make your tracks on well-prepared cross-country trails. You will also find wonderful cross-country skiing areas in nearby Herrenwies, Kniebis, and Baiersbronn. Skiers and snowboarders can let off steam at Mehliskopf or Unterstmatt if the snow conditions are right. Schönwald, Feldberg, Todtnauberg, and Kandel also offer beautiful day destinations.
Winter sports equipment can be rented at the tourist information office in Bad Rippoldsau-Schapbach. And there are toboggan runs at the Bühlertallift Hundsbach, Seibelseckle, Ruhestein, in Obertal-Buhlbach and Kaltenbronn.
